Savannah Fire crews were called to a home on East Harris Street around 10:30 Friday morning. When they arrived they found flames coming from a window in the back of the home. Fire crews quickly went to work as the fire spread through parts of the attic in the old home. Some firefighters could be seen on the roof cutting open areas with an ax to get to the flames. The people who live in the home were able to escape unharmed, but neighbors say the family's dog is unaccounted for. One firefighter twisted an ankle and was treated on scene. A spokesman for the Savannah Fire Department says the fire appears to have started in a back bedroom but the entire home suffered heavy smoke and water damage.
