ORANGEBURG, S.C. (AP) - The South Carolina mother of two children whose bodies were recovered from a car found submerged in a river has been identified by a county official.
A supervisor at the Orangeburg County Detention Center said Monday night that 29-year-old Shaquan Duley was charged in the case with leaving the scene of an accident. It was not immediately clear whether the Orangeburg resident has a lawyer.
Coroner Samuetta Marshall has identified the children as 18-month-old Ja'van T. Duley and 2-year-old Devean C. Duley. She said a cause of death would be announced following autopsies on Tuesday.
Orangeburg County Sheriff Larry Williams says authorities are investigating to determine whether the deaths were an accident.
