Armed Man Arrested in Beaufort

Police said Tovorris Dovon Jenkins is charged with assault of a high and aggravated Nature, pointing and presenting a firearm, unlawful carrying of a pistol, and fleeing to evade arrest or detention.

BEAUFORT, S.C. -- Authorities said a 22 year-old man is facing multiple charges after he fled from police.

Beaufort Police said they got a report of an armed man chasing another man near 2127 Boundary Street around 6:00 p.m. Wednesday.

The suspect ran as police tried to make contact. Officers caught the man after he tried to jump a fence but caught his foot.

Police said the suspect, Tovorris Dovon Jenkins, tried to get away again. The officer used his taser and Jenkins was eventually taken into custody. Officials said Jenkins was carrying a .38 caliber pistol in his waistband.
