Georgia's 3rd Infantry Division Doing Vital Work in Haiti

Multiple roles gets much needed relief into Port Au Prince

The capacity of the port at Port Au Prince is very limited. So, 3rd ID troops are involved in unloading relief ships out in the harbor and bringing the cargo to the wharfs. These troops are just part of a workforce from a number of countries. Our troops are also working to rebuild the pier these other operations progress. Friday morning the troops are working to unload 700 containers off a ship out in the harbor. It's a 24-hour operation to bring these containers full of water, food and other humanitarian aid. The troops are also involved in security escorts to move this aid from the port to locations throughout the area.
