BEAUFORT, S.C. -- First Lady Jenny Sanford's book hit the shelves Friday, bringing talk of Governor Mark Sanford's extramarital affair back to the spotlight.
It's likely to be a big talker in the Beaufort community, where the Sanfords have many close friends.
There were still some copies of Staying True on the shelves Friday morning at the Beaufort Bookstore, but with a strong pre-order list and a lot of interest.
"It turns out that everybody is either related to Mark Sanford or they were his babysitter, or they knew his children or whatever and many many people are coming in buying this book and I think they look faintly ashamed if you want to know the truth," said Connie McGraw at the Beaufort Bookstore.
We recently asked Governor Sanford on a visit to Hilton Head if he'll get a copy of the book.
"You know, Jenny's incredibly talented. I have no doubt it'll be a great read, and I look forward to reading it with other folks," he said.
But not everyone out there is gung-ho over getting into the details of a couple's failed marriage.
Tracy Franklin admits she's one of them. "It's already been plastered all over the news, and I've got enough things to deal with besides dealing with someone elses marital issues," said Franklin.
