ATLANTA (AP) - A second snow in less is than a week is hitting
parts of the South that are unaccustomed to dealing with much of
the frosty precipitation.
The National Weather Service said the northern third of Alabama
could get between one and three inches, while northwest Georgia
could get 2-4 inches. Snow had begun to fall in parts of Alabama
early Monday as the storm moved East.
Several cities that are ill-equipped to deal with icy roads and
piled snow, including Atlanta, were hit by a snowstorm that dropped
several inches of snow on the region Friday and Saturday. This time
around, fewer commuters are likely to be out because of the
President's Day holiday.
Meteorologist Patricia Atwell says Atlanta could get as many as
two inches Monday, starting between 5 and 6 a.m.
