SAVANNAH, Ga. -- People traveling on I-16 westbound might run into delays this weekend.
Starting Friday at 6:00 p.m, the Georgia Department of Transportation said the left lane of I-16 west will be closed from mile 165 to 164. The I-516 westbound ramp on Exit 5 to I-16 west will also be closed. Officials said a contractor will be doing bridge repair work on the I-16 west bridge.
Westbound traffic on I-16 will be shifted from a closed left lane to the right through lane. Exits 164 B and 164 A on I-16 will be open. Westbound exit 5 on I-516 to I-16 westbound will be closed. A detour will be provided for I-16 westbound traffic via exit 3 to US 17/SR 25 (Ogeechee Rd.), to SR 307 (Dean Forest Rd.), to I-16 westbound at entrance ramp 160.
Motorists are asked to slow down and use caution during this period.
I-16 eastbound traffic will not be affected during this repair work.
The lane will re-open Monday at 5:00 a.m.
