Dubergier, Jalineau, Mirault, Fromantin, and Levesque were some of the first members of Congregation St. Jean de Baptiste Catholic Church. That was the early name of the church known as St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. French Catholic and Haitians were the earlier members. In fact, Haitian Catholics participated in the first masses held in Savannah. Children of Haitian descent were some of the first to be baptized in the church known as St. John the Baptist.
