SAVANNAH, Ga. – Delta Airlines says it will cut fares between Savannah/Hilton Head International and Atlanta by as much as 40 percent, airport leaders announced Thursday.
The trial fare is a result of concerns expressed to the airline by a group of community leaders in a January 25 letter to Delta.
Today, those leaders received a response from Thomas Bach, the senior vice president of revenue management for the airline.
Bach said Delta would offer the trial fare over the next four months. He said the success of the fare would depend on the traffic generated by the discount.
Right now fares between Savannah/Hilton Head and Atlanta Hartsfield run around $510 for seven day advanced purchases, and $656 for walk-up purchases. Those fares would go down to $300 and $400, respectively.
Delta says the discounted prices may not be available on all flights.
