ATLANTA (AP) - New data shows parts of Georgia have lost - and
gained - jobs at some of the highest rates in the country over the
past year.
According to Bureau of Labor Statistics data released Tuesday,
the Atlanta-Sandy Springs-Marietta metropolitan area lost 117,100
non-farm payroll jobs from November 2008 through November 2009.
That's the fifth highest rate in the nation.
The largest over-the-year employment decrease was recorded in
the Los Angeles area, which shed 194,900 such jobs from November
2008 to November 2009.
But some parts of Georgia are thriving.
The data showed the Hinesville-Fort Stewart area had one of the
largest over-the-year percentage increases, at 2.1 percent.
