False Hope Given to Fred Williams Homeowners

»  Comments | Post a Comment

A Three On Your Side follow up tonight.
False hope...that's what some people who had pipes burst in their Fred Williams homes say they were given.
We told you Alfreda Goldwire’s story.... her son's home, which she was watching, flooded after pipes in the slab of the home ruptured. It was not the first time it happened to her son's home or many others built by Fred Williams in the Pooler neighborhood.
More than twenty complaints were filed with the Better Business Bureau and then presented to Mr Williams. In September, he said he placed his insurance carrier on notice. That seemed like a good start.
News Three's Alice Massimi continues to follow these problems but now finds out that good start hasn't really gotten off the ground.

Seven months later and Alfreda Goldwire says her son's home is still not fixed.
“The plumbing pipes that he used were the cheapest things that money could buy and then there was a soil problem. They knew the acidity level in the soil was bad from the beginning but he laid the pipes in the soil,” claims Goldwire.
Battling with insurance companies and homebuilder Fred Williams Goldwire is still searching for some help.
“Most of the people especially on this street have had to have their houses being re-piped because of it.”
A project costing thousands of dollars, its money that's coming out of the homeowners’ pockets.
In September Alfreda and others were hopeful some help was on the way, an insurance adjustor visited this home and many others... but that was it.
“He said he sent every body's paperwork to Fred Williams’s insurance company,” says Alfreda quoting the adjustor.
To the best of our knowledge there it sits...
“The frustrating thing about this is that Fred Williams will not own up to what has happened.” Alfreda says she's not done... she and other homeowners are now considering legal action.
Williams has yet to sit down with News Three to answer these claims... I tried to contact him once again today but my call was not returned.
The Better Business Bureau assumed once the insurance adjustor was involved that relief was on the way...hearing that is not the case they are ready to step in once again.
