SAVANNAH, Ga. -- Some Savannah neighbors gathered at a viewing party to watch President Obama's first State of the Union address.

About 15 people came to watch the speech at the Kluetsch family home on East 45th Street. The hosts set up a projector screen and encouraged those of all viewpoints to come watch and share their thoughts on the State of the Union.

"It wasn't for the Democrats specifically that were for Obama, the people that have helped organize, but all points of view were welcome as long people were willing to listen as well as talk, and I feel like that's something that's been lacking over the last year," said Elizabeth Lietzau-Kluetsch, the party's organizer.

Those at the party watched and listened intently, some of them taking notes while the President spoke.

"I think he did a good job in speaking about things that have been accomplished that may not have gotten a lot of press for whatever reason," said Gwendolyn Glover.

"Business as usual State of the Union address, and I would've liked to see him speak more forcefully and get more radical in terms of the change, and I think that would've probably shaken up the Congress in a way that would get things done," said Tim Jackson.

The viewing party was one of hundreds across the country that were listed on the Organizing for America website.
