Bloomingdale Police Seek Two Suspects In Sexual Assault

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Bloomingdale Police are asking for your help identifying a man and woman wanted in a sexual assault early Sunday morning.  It's an unusual case that police say started when the victim tried to help someone in need.

Police say the assault happened on a stretch of Bloomingdale Road near the railroad tracks around 1:30 Sunday morning.  “The victim stated that she was traveling home when she came upon the vehicle - it appeared to be broke down - there was a white female that had a baby carrier that looked like she was struggling to get it out of the vehicle,” says Detective Alan Elliott of the Bloomingdale Police Department.  He says - worried that the woman was stranded late at night with a child - the victim pulled over to help...it turned out there wasn't a baby.  “Before she knew what happened - she was blitzed by a male that came out of the darkness there and had a pistol,” says Detective Elliott.

Police have drawn up a sketch of the man they say attacked the woman.  Detectives say she was not robbed - the assault itself appearing to be the motive.  They say other area agencies have reported no similar incidents.  “Obviously this man's using this woman for bait - they're working as a team,” says Detective Elliott.  Police say after the assault - the man and woman drove off - leaving the victim alone - she wasn't able to get a tag number - only a description of their car.

“The man and the woman did leave together - they were in what she describes as a very poor condition vehicle - it was a silver or a light grey kind of a junkie vehicle.”  No sketch of the woman is available yet - she is described as thin, about 5-2, with blond hair.

If you have any information that could help police solve this case - you're asked to call Bloomingdale Detectives at 912-748-8302.  Police say if you see someone stopped on the side of the road who appears to be in need of assistance - it's safest to call 911 and report the location so an officer can be sent to check on them.
