SAVANNAH, Ga. -- A small Savannah business has been basking in the national spotlight thanks to President Barack Obama's visit last week.

Meddin Studios is a digital media company that just opened last year. it was one of a handful of stops on the president's tour when he visited last week.

Co-owner Nick Gant learned through an email a few weeks ago that they had a chance to host the president.

"This week has been pretty amazing, from the contacts that we've gotten from his visit, to the recognition from people from L.A., New York, Chicago. We've gotten, I would have to say, a pretty significant amount of work," said creative director Nick Gant.

Gant and his employees work in a renovated slaughterhouse, with all the equipment and facilities needed to produce and create.

Jason Osterday, camera/audio and operating partner, has helped build the company from the beginning.

"Swinging the hammer on certain things, to administrative pieces and now being part of the production side," Osterday said as he was describing the variety of duties he's done at Meddin.

They offer a combination of services, providing other local businesses the opportunity to get their products out there.

"We've been working hard to deliver this kind of service, this kind of facility, and for someone to come in and recognize us, especially obviously being the President I think that it means a lot to us," he said.

With the attention of the president's visit, Gant said they hope to open the door for the creative community in Savannah.

"It was pretty exciting to be chosen amongst what we do. We're not a company that's selfish. Our facility relies on other small businesses to be successful like most," he said.

The owners of Meddin Studios took advantage of a Small Business Administration loan from the federal government.

The company employs seven full-time workers and three part-time employees, and they're working on plans to expand.
