She was charged with statutory rape and now a Chatham county paraprofessional has accepted a plea deal. Erika Simmons worked at Myers Middle School before being arrested. She will serve 10 years probation after pleading guilty to two counts of cruelty to children. She's also no longer allowed to teach or get close to children...and she must register as a sex offender. Now if Simmons wants to visit family members under the age of 18 - she must do so with an approved chaperone.
