Sunday marks the 27th year of the Hilton Head Island St. Pat’s parade. While the route hasn't changed, this year, one of the rules has.
Wristbands are required for those drinking at the route's bars – and they come with a price.
"We're doing that because there are a lot of hard costs involved that come with the parade and instead of going to these businesses and asking them--several in the past have contributed greatly to that---and this way it spreads it out a little more evenly among all the businesses that make a little more money that day,” organizer Kim Capin said.
While some bars are buying bands in bulk and giving them away, others will charge you $3 to drink. But don't think because you have a band means you have free reign on where to take the beer.
"You are still not allowed to walk the route with the alcohol- you must stay on the premises where you bought the alcohol,” Capin said.
The parade starts at 3pm at Coligny Beach parking lot.
