SAVANNAH, GA – Chatham County District Attorney Larry Chisolm confirmed Wednesday that the DA’s office is in contact with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, regarding the shooting death of Larry Wall Jr., by a Metro Police officer Monday morning. Interim Metro Police Chief Willie Lovett immediately turned the case over to the GBI which continues to investigate. The DA’s Office says they cannot make any comments about the substance of the case and possibility of charges, until the GBI investigation has been completed and the reports have been turned over for review. There has so far been no indication of when the GBI will close their investigation or how long it will take to review their findings. DA Larry Chisolm says, “Once the GBI hands over the case, the DA’s Office will give this case the attention and care that it deserves. We understand the impact that a police involved shooting has on our communities and the stress and concern that the family of the decedent is experiencing, as well as, the citizens in the Carver Heights community. We, however, ask everyone concerned about this case not to rush to judgment. It is our duty and responsibility to make a careful review and to make sure that the case is appropriately handled and that everything is done by the book.”
