Girl Hit By Car - In Critical Condition

SAVANNAH, GA (March 19, 2010): Savannah-Chatham Metro Police (SCMPD) is investigating a Friday night accident that's left a 12 year old in critical condition.

Just after 9:00 p.m. officers received a call of an accident involving a pedestrian along Hodgson Memorial blvd. There officers found a 12 year old girl who had been struck by a vehicle as she attempted to cross the street.

Officers were advised that the 12 year old girl was walking home from the mall with two friends. The three attempted to cross Hodgson Memorial Blvd., outside of the crosswalk, when she was struck by a north bound SUV.

The subject sustained serious but what appear to be non-life threatening injuries and was transported to Memorial University Medical Center.

But she is now listed in critical condition.

SCMPD traffic units and forensics responded and the incident is under investigation.
