COLLETON COUNTY, S.C. -- Authorities are investigating a shooting Monday evening that left one person dead near Ashton.
The Colleton County Sheriff's Office got the call around 7:00 p.m. from 4471 Cayce Road in Islandton. Deputies found 48-year-old David Dickey of Neeses, SC with several gunshot wounds in the yard of the home. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Witnesses told investigators Dickey came to the home and confronted the owner, Kenneth “Kenny” Maurice Brown about a couple of dogs Dickey said had been stolen from him. Investigators said Brown fired several rounds at Dickey during the argument and fled the scene.
Brown, 40, is described as 5 foot 11 inches tall, weighing 220 lbs., and has dreadlocks.
Authorities said Brown was driving a red 2002 Chevrolet Pickup truck with South Carolina tag BBH 726.
