Here is a very touching letter from Jamie Baldwin, the football coach for Johnson High School. His sister Susan died in April. Saturday night, his football players will wear pink socks and pink ribbons on their helmets to honor Susan and all those facing the battle against breast cancers.
In Jamie Baldwin's own words:
My sister Susan saw her angel……….
My sister was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005. She fought this disease with ferocious strength and determination. Through the gut wrenching chemo, surgeries and endless visits to the doctor she remained resolute in her faith and her belief in the goodness of life. On April 1, 2010, a week before she left this earth she saw her angel. Although she did not realize at that time that the angelic figure that came to her in the night was her personal escort to her second and permanent home, she told the story of how the angel gave her a deep sense of peace. I know my sister was someone special. She was a wonderful mother of two little boys, a loving and supportive sister, a beloved daughter and a devoted friend to many. Although the pain of not having her here is very much felt everyday there is comfort in knowing that she in heaven having a good ole time talking to God, other family members who have passed on and yes of course, her angel…….
In celebration of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, show love to all of the females in your life by encouraging them to perform monthly breast exam and when appropriate get a mammogram. On behalf of me and Coach Mark Stroud, we want to thank you for your support.
Sincerely,
Coach Jamie Baldwin
