Savannah's tourism agency received kudos from Governor Sonny Perdue.
Perdue recognized some of Georgia's top tourism professionals at the 2010 Governor's Conference on Tourism in Athens Wednesday.
More than 400 tourism industry professionals were in attendance.
Perdue presented Visit Savannah, formerly known as the Savannah Convention & Visitors Bureau, with the Larry Allen Award for Excellence in Tourism. Visit Savannah received recognition for strategies to attract high-end cultural arts visitors, including digital media programming, partnerships with cultural arts organizations and creating relationships with cultural arts writers.
The award is given in memory of the late Larry Allen, general manager of Stone Mountain.
