Spokeo.com may not be a new website but many people are just now finding out about it.
It takes personal information and puts it in one place, kind of like a phone book.
But that information could include your address, age, marital status, how much your home is worth and even a street view image of your home.
For a small fee, you can take it a step further and find out how much someone makes, get pictures of them and more.
If you would like to take your name and information off Spokeo.com, just follow these steps:
1. Log onto spokeo.com
2. Type in your name
3. Choose your state and then city
4. When you find your listing copy the URL
5. Click on Privacy on the bottom right of the page
6. Paste the URL into the URL line
7. Type in your e-mail address in the e-mail address line
8. Enter the code to the right of the Code box
9. Click Remove Listing
10. You will get an e-mail from Spokeo with a link inside. Click the link to finish removing your name from the website.
It may take a couple days to remove your listing. Some people have reported getting a message that reads "In order to prevent abuse, we must limit the frequency of privacy requests. Please try again tomorrow."
You can also remove listings for your family members. Just follow the same steps as above and use an e-mail address you have access to.
