(Savannah, Ga.) Photos of Nancy Sanders represent her presence.
"She always said mommy when I grow up I'm going to do everything you want me to do, and she grew up to be a fine young lady who loved her mother, her father, and her siblings."
Named after her mother, Nancy Sanders honored her parents. She visited them for lunch almost every day. Nancy Bruin says she last saw her daughter Friday.
"That's the first time she laid on the chair and I rubbed her leg and she said ooh mama that feels good cause she was in pain all the time."
The mother of three beautiful girls suffered from fibromyalgia. Pain and suffering was apparently worse behind the walls of the sanders home. Her silence about an abusive relationship came to light in the worst way Saturday. Police say Kenneth Sanders stabbed his wife to death.
"I knew sooner or later he would do something like this to my child because I always would see the evil in him. I would ask him what did I do to you for you to take my child away from me."
This heartbroken mother wishes she could have done more for her daughter, but she tried not to interfere with her marriage. It's a horrible ordeal that has left 3 little girls emotionally scarred.
"When they get with me and wake up in the morning, I want my mommy, I want my mommy,
and I say mommy's not here and I just give them a hug and kiss them."
Nancy Bruin says her daughter may be gone, but no one can take away her spirit.
"We love each other, and we will go on loving each other. And that's what Nancy would want us to do… to take care of her girls."
Charges against Kenneth Sanders include felony murder, cruelty to children, aggravated assault, and possession of a knife during the commission of a felony.
Police say that Sanders had prior charges relating to abuse.
In 2006 he tried to stab a woman.
Police also say that on Saturday evening Sanders called 911 himself.
That was one of 2 calls authorities received.
