The numbers are in and WSAV's Identity Safe Recycling Day was a huge success! Folks came out in droves to the Chatham County Conservation and Resource Center on Eisenhower Drive in Savannah to shred their sensitive documents and erase their computer hard drives. WSAV'S Tina Tyus Shaw, Russ Reisinger, and other members of the news 3 team were on hand helping viewers not only with their papers, but also to collect donations for our Holiday Hope toy drive to make sure area children in need have toys for Christmas. In Bluffton, a steady flow at the Bluffton Self-Help on Sheridan Park Circle. Where folks say the service is not only convenient, but it gives them peace of mind. WSAV holds two "Identity Safe Recycling Days" every year. Look for the next one in the spring. Here's a look at the numbers: In Savannah, 1,246 vehicles came through; 28,000 pounds of paper shredded; and 70 computers were collected and will be resold at Goodwill. $945 cash and a lot of change was also collected for Holiday Hope in Savannah. Another $275 was collected in South Carolina. More than $1,200 total! In Bluffton, people brought in 8,000 more pounds of documents to be shred and donated another 75 computers. It wouldn't be possible without our partners Shredex, Savannah Shredding, Chatham County, Bluffton Self-Help and Goodwill. Thank you to everyone who came out!
