A former Town of Yemassee Police Officer has been charged with Criminal Sexual Conduct and Misconduct of a Public Official. According to the arrest warrant provided by SLED, Curtis Fields agreed not to issue a speeding ticket in exchange for oral sex. The warrant states that on November 5th, 2011, Fields conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle operated by the victim who was speeding on Interstate 95. During the traffic stop, he agreed not to issue the victim a traffic ticket in exchange for sex. Officer Fields had the victim follow his patrol car to a secluded location where the victim performed oral sex on him in lieu of receiving the ticket. The warrant states that the charges were based on statements from Fields, the victim, as well as an audio recording of the incident to prove it. Yemassee Police Chief Jack Hagy said Tuesday that Curtis Fields is no longer with the department. According to Hagy, Fields had been with the department since 2009. Hagy said he could not comment on what happened since the investigation was handed over to SLED. Fields was booked and released Monday from the Hampton County Detention Center. More information will be posted here as it becomes available.
