A former Beaufort County Sheriff's Deputy is under arrest for allegedly sending inappropriate text messages to a 15 year old girl.
According to the SLED arrest warrant, between July 14 and July 20, Deputy Jason Andrew Meier began communicating with the girl via Yahoo Instant Messenger and text message and the exchanges grew increasingly sexual in nature.
The exchanges led to personal meetings and according to content from the Yahoo Instant Messenger, inappropriate touching occurred during some of those meetings, the arrest warrant states.
Furthermore, the contact between Deputy Meier and the teen is believed to have occurred while he was on duty.
Meier, 39, was arrested by SLED Agents Friday and charged with Unlawful Dissemination of Obscene Material to Person Under 18 Years of Age and Misconduct in Office.
The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office says Meier was employed as a patrol deputy from December 2008 until his termination on July 21st.
Meier was booked into the Beaufort County Detention Center but was released on his own recognizance later in the day.
