714- that is the number of animals that so far - have found their new forever homes through the Savannah Humane Society.
Finding one of these animals a loving home is part of an adopt-a-thon challenge. The humane society that helps the most animals - is eligible for a big cash prize up to 100 thousand dollars.
Savannah has exceeded its goal, but it still hopes to put more of these dogs and cats into the arms of new owners.
So right now, through Monday all animals are free to a good home.
Gwen Freeman with the Savannah Humane Society says that they couldn’t have gotten this far without the community.
"It has been amazing, all the community support we got starting on August1st. It has just snow balled! We have been busier and busier and we are up to 714 adoptions, which is a record for us! Our goal was 700 and we hit that last week so now we are up to 750."
