3rd Infantry Division Headquarters released the identity of the soldier killed in a motorcycle accident in Long County.
They say 23 year old Sgt. Adam Huckstep of Round Rock, Texas was the accident victim. He was assigned to the 2nd Heavy Brigade Combat Team of the Third Infantry Division.
The Georgia State Patrol is still investigating the accident that happened around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Troopers said Sgt. Huckstep was traveling on Elim Church Road when a Toyota Corolla pulled out from Lee Place Road to make a left turn.
The motorcycle slammed into the left side of the car, ejecting Huckstep from the bike. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Sgt. Huckstep enlisted in the Army in 2008. He most recently deployed with the Third Infantry Division in October 2009 and was scheduled to deploy this summer in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
The Marne Division expresses its deepest sympathy and condolences to the family and friends of the Soldier. Chaplain support along with local Fort Stewart installation agencies are providing support to the family.
