The Georgia Department of Transportation today awarded 21 new contracts valued at more than $23.7 million for statewide road and bridge infrastructure improvements.
Georgia DOT has begun 146 new construction projects valued at approximately $620 million in Fiscal Year 2012.
The largest single project awarded today was for the construction of three new bridges across the Oconee River and its floodplain on U.S. Highway 280/State Route 30 in Montgomery and Wheeler counties in Middle Georgia. The $9.8 million contract went to the Gregory Bridge Company of Eatonton. Work is schedule to be completed in March, 2014.
Other awards announced include:
- Approximately $1.4 million for widening and streetscape enhancements of State University Drive in Fort Valley in Peach County; to R.J. Haynie & Associates, Inc., of Lake City;
- More than $1.6 million for resurfacing county roads in Appling, Jeff Davis, Montgomery, Telfair and Wheeler counties and city streets in 14 different cities in those counties; to Ricketson Construction Company, Inc., of Douglas, GA; and
- More than $1 million for resurfacing 9.5 miles of Savannah city streets; to Oldcastle Southern Group, Inc., of Savannah.
