(Savannah, GA) Some young college are funding the fight against breast cancer.
Armstrong Atlantic State University's women's volleyball team donated $500 to the Telfair pavilion today.
The fundraising effort will help women without insurance get mammograms.
That makes one AASU basketball player very happy.
"My mom actually found out she had breast cancer on her very first mammogram. So giving a woman the gift of a mammogram is the best thing you can give her. Anything I can do to help out another family or another woman I'm willing to do, because it was a lot of work this summer, and I don't want anyone else to go through that if they don't have to," says Danielle Zuercher.
The donation comes at a good time, and will be a big boost to the Telfair Mammography Fund.

"In the year of 2011 there were approximately 940 exams that were actually paid for through the mammography fund. That's a lot of exams, and of course the economy is getting better, and that's wonderful, but there are still so many people without insurance, and these grassroots efforts are really what make the big difference in the funds," says Lora Sapp.
Join The Power of Pink by throwing your support behind Danielle and her Armstrong Atlantic basketball teammates this Wednesday.
That's when their upcoming Pink Zone Game will be held.
"Pirates for The Cure" t-shirts will be sold to raise money for the Telfair Mammography Fund.
The game is 5:30. The team is inviting all cancer survivors to the game.
They want to honor you.
