Some businesses in Brunswick are left assessing damages after a fire broke out Monday. The building houses a few different businesses including a pawn shop, rental store, and used furniture store. Firefighters were able to put it out quickly, but the back part of the building was badly damaged.

The President approves funds for the deepening of the Port of Savannah in the 2013 budget. 2.8 million dollars will go toward the $600 million project. The project is expected to get final federal approval later this year. The harbor project will prepare a new class of larger container ships ahead of the panama canal expansion.

A burden is lifted for an east Savannah woman. 85-year-old Lucy Grant could not afford repairs to her home. The power of a community partnership is making a difference. Thanks to the City of Savannah and Community Help Incorporated, Grant is getting a new roof. Workers started installing the roof Monday afternoon.
