The intersection of Forest Drive and Akins Blvd. on the Georgia Southern University campus has re-opened after a bus fire there earlier today.
A transit bus on campus caught fire during lunchtime Thursday afternoon closing the intersection for about four hours.
The Southern Express bus went up in flames near the intersection of Forest Drive and Bunny Akins Boulevard.
Investigators determined that a small electrical fire began in the headlight of the bus and then spread to the natural gas fuel cells which later caused the bus to explode according to GSU spokeswoman Betsy Nolen.
15 people were on board the bus when it caught fire but everyone made it off safely and no one was injured.
An inspection of other buses in the fleet revealed no other problems.
