We now know the name of the person killed after getting hit by a fire truck yesterday.
28 year old Justin Miller was struck while walking down a Beaufort sidewalk.
The man who stole a Port Royal fire truck which hit Miller is awaiting charges in a Beaufort hospital.
After his driving rampage, 26 year old Kalvin Hunt was transported to Beaufort Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
South Carolina State Patrol are still investigating the bizarre case, which started at 4:20pm Friday afternoon.
Investigators say it all started when Port Royal firefighters were on a medical call at Laurel Hill apartments. As two men from the Beaufort/Port Royal Fire Department responded to the call, Hunt took their fire truck.
He then barreled into Beaufort from Port Royal. He was heading North on Ribaut when he collided with several vehicles.
Hunt kept driving after the crash, and near the Dollar General store in the 110 block, crossed over the Southbound lanes, hitting a Miller, walking pedestrian, and then a tree.
Beaufort Police confirm the suspect was naked during the incident.
Alexander Mahala, a witnesses on the scene, explained to News 3 how terrifying the experience was, "Well I was driving, and as I was making the turn, I looked out of my peripheral vision and I saw my mom freaking out and my dad was like whoa, holy crap. I looked over and I saw a giant Jeep like coming right at us. It was pretty scary; I'm not going to lie."
Several agencies are involved in this investigation, but the South Carolina Highway Patrol is now in charge.
When asked if charges were filed, Highway patrol said the investigation is ongoing.
