Folks in Garden City made history Saturday, holding their very first Unity March in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
The march brought together people of different races, religions and economic status.
Participants walked with a purpose, just like Dr. King did all those years ago, giving a voice to the voiceless, the hungry and homeless.
Saturday, over 100 strong, put aside their differences to join together and stand for those who need support.
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is known for standing up for those who can't stand for themselves. So in honor of him, they hope to spread the word that right here in Savannah, many of our neighbors can't even put food on the table.
Saturday’s march helped raise funds for Savannah Feed the Hungry. Dr Martin Luther King Junior’s nephew, Isaac Farris was on hand for the march and also dedicated a new library to Savannah Feed the Hungry in his uncle’s name.
