Many of our troops are returning home, but some bear injuries so severe they lose their limbs.
That’s where "Segs 4 Vets" shines. Saturday, Segway of Savannah held a fundraiser where folks looking for some fun in the sun, could ride around town for free as long as they made a donation.
The "Seg 4 Sets" program custom fits Segways for amputee service men and women. Ryan Calton of Segway of Savannah says it not only gives them an easy way to get around but also a much needed
"Many of the veterans actually feel like they are handicapped if they have to sit in a wheelchair. But with the segway, they are a part of the crowd and sometimes even stand over it. These veterans put their lives on the line for all of us so them to help them is awesome."
Segway of Savannah will hold another fundraiser next month.
