Hilton Head Health's new Culinary Arts Center seems like any beautiful kitchen, but when you look closer, you see one big difference with how they cook.
"Cooking food that's nutritionally balanced, stuff that you can do at home that you can do all the time that looks like the stuff you see in a restaurant," said head chef Jennifer Welper.
Today, the class is making a healthy pizza that contains only 170 calories! But if pizza isn't your thing, don't worry they offer a wide variety of classes.
"Any type of topic that you can imagine, whether it be topics like around the world, be it Asian or Italian cuisine, we're doing seafood classes, really any topic that you can think of," said Jessica Lynn, Director of Course Development.
The goal of this new culinary center is to promote a recipe for success, by teaching folks how to make healthy and yummy choices at home.
and for Brent Whitus, he' s trying to lose a few extra pounds and he says he's learned a lot from these courses.
"A lot, a lot about exercise and a lot about eating healthy, about how to cook, what it really takes to lose weight and to maintain weight, its really cool."
The chefs try to instill these healthy ideals into every student.
"I think it's important that everyone learns how to cook healthy, because as you can see the current population is having a lot of problems with their weight, and maintaining it, and if you can learn this new healthy lifestyle with the way we cook here at h3 it makes a really big deal in your new lifestyle and your new styles of cooking," said Welper.
