There was perfect weather for a great day of fishing today, especially for the little ones.  The Crabshack on Tybee Island hosted their 23rd annual Tybee Kids Fishing Tournament this morning.

Between 100 and 140 children register for the tournament each year.  Many head headed out to fish from boats, while others stayed on the dock.

The Marine Rescue Squadron was on hand to help those who turned out to fish.

“This is very important to the community and the kids and moms and dads because it really helps build a bond between parents and their children, teaching the kids how to fish, teaching them the beautiful place we live, teaching them how to interact with our environment in a reasonable and safe and fun way,” says Chuck Eaton from the Marine Rescue Squadron.

Eaton says they’re hoping for another wonderful fishing tournament next year with good tides, great weather and biting fish.
