Savannah-Chatham Metro Police say an adult and a teenager are in custody after they painted graffiti on city property.

Police say a citizen saw two people walking around the Crawford Square area around 3:30 p.m. Thursday.  Authorities say the two walked into a gazebo in the square and started spray painting and stenciling on a bench inside.

The practice of unlawfully marking an area is commonly known to law enfrocement as tagging.

The citizen told them she was calling police, and the two supects left.

Later, Officer William Brown saw the couple near Live Oak and Anderson Street.  Police say they arrested Leightwon Walker Brooks, 19, of Richmond Hill, and a 16 year-old.

Brooks faces charges of Interference with Government Property and Criminal Trespassing.  The 16-year-old is charged with Party to the Crime of Interference with Government Property and Criminal Trespassing and was turned over to parental custody.
