Tax Cuts, Trauma Funding Die on Last Day of Legislative Session

It appears Georgians won't be getting a tax cut. Republicans who had pledged to wipe out the car tag tax, slash the income tax, and cap property assessments delivered on none of those promises last night.

It was the final day of the legislative session. Governor Sonny Perdue, an opponent of the tax breaks, praised the decision saying lawmakers in the senate recognize the importance of fiscal responsibility.

Transportation funding, trauma care and school vouchers also all died in the final hours at the state capitol.
