They lined up (as they always do) bringing old papers, checkbooks and all kinds of other personal documents. Many folks once again are taking advantage of a free event organized by WSAV.  In an effort to help people guard against identity theft, Shred-Ex was on hand Saturday to shred personal papers.  Goodwill Industries also took donated computers (erasing the hard drives first)so the computers are re-sold.

The event was held at the Chatham County Resource Center on Eisenhower Drive. More than 500 cars were counted during the 5 hour event. Shred Ex helped folks safely dispose of almost 30,000 pounds (15 tons!) of documents. (Three full trucks.)  The paper, once shredded, is recycled.

Goodwill also collected 200 pieces of computer and electronics equipment (a whole truckload). Thanks to everyone for helping making WSAV’s Data Destruction Day a great success.
