Early Straw Poll Set in Race for SC Governor

The Post and Courier of Charleston reports a straw poll in the governor’s race is set for Friday at the Dorchester County Republican party’s annual stump meeting and barbecue.

It’s not too early to be thinking about
next year’s race for governor in South Carolina and Republicans in
one county are getting an early start on the politicking.
    The Post and Courier of Charleston reports a straw poll in the
governor’s race is set for Friday at the Dorchester County
Republican party’s annual stump meeting and barbecue.
    The five announced GOP candidates will speak during the stump.
    Lt. Gov. Andrew Bauer, Attorney General Henry McMaster, U.S.
Rep. Gresham Barrett, state Sen. Larry Grooms and Dr. Brent Nelson
have announced for the race.
    State law prevents incumbent Mark Sanford from seeking a third
term.
