In addition to spending your taxpayer dollars to purchase their first marina the city spent some more of your money today.
News Three’s Alice Massimi has more on today’s city council meeting.

To start with the county and city are one step closer to removing the I-16 flyover.
Today the city agreed to spend two hundred fifty thousand dollars for a feasibility study to be conducted on removing this rather unsightly flyover on M.L.K.
They’re looking at doing this because they believe it will improve transportation, livability and economic development along the M.L.K. Corridor and surrounding areas.
The Metropolitan Planning Commission is matching the city’s contribution.

You’ve seen us do numerous stories on this deadly intersection…. Benton Boulevard and Jimmy DeLoach Parkway.
Well it is finally getting a traffic signal and so is another accident prone intersection, Jimmy DeLoach and Crossroads.
Today the council agreed to spend forty one thousand dollars to purchase 8 steel poles.
They also issued two new bonds…one of them for twenty million dollars to fund work on President Street and another for 15 million dollars worth of water and sewer projects.
They did take some steps to save you some money.
They’re refinancing some bonds… a move that will save the city more than 3 million dollars.
Finally the city gave the go ahead to the Savannah Hilton Head International Airport to spend more than three million dollars of stimulus money to expand the airports general aviation area.
