20-year-old Tanye Mosley is picking out a dress for one of the most important days of her life. The staff at David’s Bridal is assisting her. No it’s actually not her wedding day.
Tanye is one in a small group of Savannah students who’ve been personally invited to witness the Inauguration of President-Elect Barack Obama. “He’s been selected 44th President of the United States of America, and I’m just very glad and honored to have an opportunity to see it,“says Tanye.
In a letter from The University Presidential Inaugural Conference Tanye is told she will be a VIP attending most of the executive events associated with the inauguration including the Ball.
“I actually will get to sit inside and watch the Inauguration of him being sworn in. I also get to see keynote speakers like Lance Armstrong, Colin Powell…just a lot of different people,“ Tanye says.
She earned the honor because of skills demonstrated at the National Young Leaders Conference.
It will also be also be a proud day for her parents.
“She’s done well, and just like any parent you’d be proud of the things your child does and she makes me very happy,” says Renee Mosley.
Choices, Choices, Choices. Choosing the perfect dress wasn’t easy.
“It’s been crazy, but I’m excited that I found a gown. Why did you decide on this beautiful dress that you’re going to be wearing for the Inaugural Ball? I decided it’s very simple pretty much and I don’t think anyone else is going to be wearing it at least I hope not. It’s just very formal and it flows.“
For Tanye this is a dream come true.
She says not only will she continue learning about the political process, but she’ll witness history she thought would never happen.
“I’m very excited to be a part of history.“
