Police looking for killer after shooting early Saturday morning
Savannah-Chatham Metro Police are investigating a homicide after a man was discovered dead on Savannah’s Southside early Saturday morning.
They say around 2:15 this morning, police responded to the 400 block of Tibet Avenue after getting a report that someone heard gunshots in the area. Officials say the officers conducted a search but found no evidence there had been a shooting.
Then, juust before 3:00 a.m. this morning, a bicyclist saw a man lying near the Southside Assembly of God church lat 401 Tibet Ave. The bicyclist assumed something was wrong and called 911. Officers responded to the scene and found the man. They say he had at least one gunshto wounds and despite attempts by EMS to revive him, the victim was waspronounced dead at the scene.
According to police, detectives are actively working the investigation and following leads. The man’s identity is being withheld until the next of kin can be notified.
