Savannah firefighters rushed to an eastside residence Sunday night when fire erupted in the one story house. Firefighters arriving on the scene encountered heavy smoke and flames coming from the roof of the house at 332 Manor Dr. just after 8 p.m. An initial search of the burning building found no one inside and firefighters were able to quickly attack the fire. Flames had already reached the home’s attic and it took firefighters about 15 minutes to extinguish the blaze.
Three people home at the time the fire broke out were able to escape the single story wood sided house without injury. The home sustained heavy fire, smoke and water damage. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, but it is believed to have started in the laundry room area of the home. The American Red Cross were on scene to assist the family of four who were displaced.
