As most of us know losing weight is not an easy task.
A challenge Savannah’s Own Ruby Gettinger knows first hand.

Battling her weight since childhood Ruby is now documenting her struggle.
A hit series on the Style Network she is about to kick off her second season.
“Oh my goodness, so much has happened! I have lost so much weight and I am actually less than 350 pounds for the first time in my adult life.”
Smiling most of the time Ruby is ecstatic about her progress and the success of the show.
“I’ve always been happy but I am telling you I am riding a bike for the first time. I’m kayaking and I’m doing stuff I’ve never done and I love it.”
She’s an inspiration not just to herself but to thousands of others dealing with various forms of addiction.
“Everyone has their own beast. There are so many addictions out there we may not see everybody’s, ours you can see and that is why people judge it so harshly.”
But what others think of Ruby’s weight is not what drives her… it’s staying alive.
“I’m walking like two miles now. I just can’t get over how I can get up and get down. My knees don’t hurt like they used to, my back, I can breathe. It really is amazing how much obesity affects your health.”
On the track to becoming happier and healthier savannah’s own is on her way to success.

Ruby will actually be in town tonight for the premiere of her new season.
The viewing is at SCAD’s Trustees Theater.
The doors open at seven and the show starts at 8pm.
