Teacher’s Aide Arraigned On Sex Charges

Erika Simmons appeared in a Garden City courtroom today - charged with statutory rape, child molestation and enticing a child for indecent purposes.  Simmons was a paraprofessional and cheerleading coach at Myers Middle School.  Her alleged victim - a 15 year old football player.  Nearly 20 family members and friends packed the courtroom in support of her Wednesday afternoon.  Authorities requested a ten thousand dollar bond.  Simmons attorney argued for less, pointing out her ties to the community where she was born and raised.  Bond was set at 6 thousand dollars.  Simmons is also to have no contact with her alleged victim or any state witnesses except through her attorney.  She is also to stay away from Myers Middle School.
