Loco?s Liquor on the Line
A downtown bar will find out this afternoon if they get to keep their liquor license after two employees were caught selling alcohol to underage customers.
Twice in two months, underage operatives were able to buy booze at Loco’s Deli and Pub on Broughton Street. One server has already been convicted; another is awaiting an administrative hearing. Today the owners of the restaurant will face Savannah City Council to explain why the city should continue to allow them to serve alcohol.
Also on the agenda for today’s 2pm meeting:
Coastal Cathedral is looking to sell its church building at DeRenne and Skidaway to Food Lion. Before the deal can go through the zoning at the property needs to be changed to allow the grocery store chain to operate there. Neighbors in Bacon Park say they would like a grocery store but want to hear more about the plan before they give their support. Food Lion representatives are set to meet with the neighbors later this month.
Savannah Chatham Police are getting more than $700 thousand in high tech help. They’ll receive 154 in-car computers that will let officers enter crime and accident reports and access information in their cars that they now have to get from dispatch. Police have been testing out 5 different types of computers to pick the ones that work the best in the field.
City Council meets at 2pm at Savannah City Hall at the north end of Bull Street Downtown.
