Thursday night becomes "fright night" on NBC beginning Thursday.
That's when the network debuts its new horror series, "Fear Itself".
The show carries with it a "viewer discretion advised" warning which is just fine with the show's creators.
They're trying to scare the wits out of you.
Expect the unexpected on the new NBC anthology series "Fear Itself".
Executive producer Andrew Deane said, "It's along the lines of classic shows like twilight zone, night gallery."
That is, the actors and the settings change from week to week but
The scares don't.
Actress Rachel Miner said, "It's got an old horror movie feel."
That's because television can't show the same graphic horrors movies can, but..
Actor Jack Noseworthy said, "You don't have to show blood and guts for things to be scary."
And some of Hollywood’s top fright-makers jumped on for the challenge.
Director Breck Eisner said, "We're getting to do it in an old school way. It's not about gore, it's about tension, suspense and danger."
And making viewers jump.
Director Brad Anderson said, "That combination of something that gets under your skin and something that literally pops you out of your seat is maybe what constitutes the best kind of horror."
Thursday night's first episode tells the tale of four crooks on the run who pick the wrong place to stop.
"Something's a little off and there are surprises lurking around the corner," said Miner.
That's when the fun and the fright begins.
Thursday night's episode features Jesse Plemmons of "Friday Night Lights".
In the weeks to come, Eric Roberts and "Superman’s” Brandon Routh are among the other actors slated to appear on "Fear Itself".
