Hulk Review

Having no relatinship whatsoever with the 2003 movie "The Hulk" which starred Australian actor Eric Bana, "The Incredible Hulk" stars Edward Norton as a scientist who's paying the consequences for experimenting on himself.

When he gets angry or upset, you know what happens but the backstory is told during opening credits. In this scene, her father, a Lt. General played stiffly by William Hurt, is trying to capture the big guy to replicate whatever is insside him to mass produce superhuman soildiers.

Tim Roth, miscast as a Russian or English soldier, why is he unshaven, has been injected with some of the same goo and may have similar powers. This is one of three big action sequences, predictable but effective.

And there's the inevitable buildup to a climactic fight with Roth's bulked-up monster. It's preceeded with a fond, if unconventional farewell to his girlfriend, fellow scientist Liv Tyler.

Oh, you want to see some of that fight? It'll hold no surprises,  but it's pretty well done.

What did you expect a Noel Coward drawing room comedy? The Incredible Hulk:  big, loud, dumb, good special effects and undeniably entertaining. But someone forgot to write an intelligent screenplay.
